ABQ!! Let’s get it!

I am more than excited to turn my attentions to Albuquerque and making that class the best and most positive and fulfilling class for everyone involved. This is my home town and I think there are a lot of people interested in the upcoming class. The goal is to reach as many people as possible and get them to commit to coming to class. So far I’ve gotten a great response so I can’t wait to get home…

The best part about being a performer..

The best part about being a performer is the bonds you make with people. Its like graduating for the high school, college or being from the same fraternity. As an athlete and performer one of the I cherish the most out the experiences I have is the friendships and the bonds that we make. Its sharing, actively participating in thing that brings us together is a wonderful thing to be a part of. Working in a team or ensemble cast are great because you will always have that with you. And you can relive it over and over again.

Stepping Workshop Tour 2012

I love to teach, I’ve taught stepping over  the last 13 years to fellow steppers, I help trained new steppers, taught to people who wanted to learn a little something, I’ve created and revamped steps. I’ve taught with Jason and Khalid in many of their workshops and workshops for Step Afrika and Molodi where we taught be committee. Since May of last year I’ve been teaching my own workshops and I am having a ball doing it. I’m always looking for a new opportunities and expand my experience as a teaching. It’s like a new career. So I decided to do a Stepping Workshop tour. The idea is to book dance studios in different parts of the world and teach Stepping Workshops in new places to new faces.. I’ve performed all over the country but I have not travelled as teacher so I am looking forward to this ever-growing and unfolding journey teaching. .. I don’t plan to quit my day job. LOL!

I launched a funding campaign through Kickstarter.com, its a great site for artists who want to get support and find money for their projects. If you want to help me reach my goal in getting funding for my project, or check out the site and start you own campaign http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1653683042/stepping-workshop-tour is my proposal. If you another way to show your support or help spread the word repost/reblog the link. Email it, facebook it, wordpress it. I appreciate your help, your time, your present, your energy.

I will be using the blog to chronicle my steps in making this goal a reality. I’m not sure on how open I want to be in this process but I think it might be fun to share the highs and lows, I’m sure mostly highs. Pictures, videos, schedules, and updates will be here. I hope you walk with me on the path. PEACE!!

The Power of Music

This video is so powerful to me, since I was a child Michael Jackson and James Brown are the main reason I perform. And they are still influencing me in my persuade for the best in my music and my self. Just re-watching this video it gave me chill and reminded me why I love to perform. I think I listen to their music and imagine how to infuse it into step and body percussion everyday. It’s a fantasy and a goal to make something that James and Michael would be inspired by. And proud of.

While I was getting inspired I saw this piece of black americana. I know you going to dig this.
